Hamdan bin Mohammed Meets Elon Musk to Discuss Technology Cooperation

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the United Arab Emirates, met with Elon Musk on Thursday to discuss global technological developments and potential areas of cooperation. The meeting took place at Sheikh Hamdan’s majlis in Nad Al Sheba.

The discussion focused on how emerging technologies can be applied to support sustainable development and address global challenges. The talks also reflected Dubai’s and the UAE’s broader strategy to position themselves as international hubs for technology and innovation through partnerships with leading global companies.

Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, attended the meeting. Also present were Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, and Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism.

According to officials, the conversation highlighted the UAE’s investment in digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and future technologies, as well as its regulatory frameworks designed to support early adoption of innovation and attract specialized talent. Sheikh Hamdan reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to technology-driven growth through international partnerships and human capital development.

Musk, who leads X, SpaceX, Tesla, and Starlink, praised the UAE’s approach to technology, artificial intelligence, and space exploration, and expressed his support for the country’s continued progress.
